Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico, offers a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences, a Minor in Emergency Management, and a Certificate in Emergency Management that are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Students can complete all three programs entirely online. For the bachelor’s degree, students take the following classes: Introduction to Emergency Management; Disaster Response; Disaster Recovery; Emergency Services Administration and Management; Emergency Preparedness; Hazard Mitigation; Community Risk Reduction for Fire and Emergency Services; Legal, Political and Regulatory Issues; and Public Health Emergencies or Homeland Security. A Capstone in Emergency Management is also required.
