Sciences Po’s Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) offers a two-year Master’s in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action (minimum 120 ECTS), taught entirely in English. The programme provides a unique interdisciplinary framework combining philosophy, history, sociology and anthropology to critically examine the relationship between human rights and humanitarian action. Core courses cover international law, global and regional institutional frameworks, gender and human security, alongside professional skills including advocacy, negotiation and project management and evaluation.
The degree is structured over four semesters: three academic semesters at Sciences Po’s Paris campus and one semester dedicated to either a professional internship, an exchange at a partner university, or a master’s thesis. An Enhanced Master option allows students to take additional specialist courses. Graduates pursue diverse careers in NGOs, the diplomatic corps, international organisations, journalism and international law — alumni include an ECHO Partnership Manager at the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue in Geneva, and specialists at Amnesty International, CNRS, and the OECD. PSIA is one of Europe’s foremost schools of international affairs, with strong institutional links to humanitarian and human rights actors in Paris and Geneva.
