The MSc in Global Health (Humanitarian Response) at the University of Manchester is a part-time distance learning programme delivered through the Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute (HCRI), an internationally recognised research institute focused on humanitarianism, conflict response and peacebuilding. The course is designed for both those new to the global health and humanitarian sectors and experienced professionals seeking to advance to senior roles.
Topics covered include emergency medicine, disaster management, community health, anthropology, and sociology of health and illness in humanitarian contexts. Course content is developed in collaboration with the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), whose insights are integrated throughout. The University of Manchester is ranked in the top 50 globally for Arts and Humanities (Times Higher Education 2025). For entry beginning September 2026, tuition fees are £9,800 per year for international students and £5,000 for UK students. Applicants require a Lower Second Class Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; exceptions may be made for those with strong professional experience in the sector.
