The MSc in Global Mental Health is a joint programme delivered by King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). It prepares students to initiate, develop and oversee mental health programmes in low-resource settings — including those affected by conflict and humanitarian crises — and to carry out research relevant to global mental health policy and practice.
Teaching is delivered by leading researchers from the Centre for Global Mental Health and welcomes applications from clinicians, researchers, development workers and those working in mental health policy and planning. Students are based at King’s Denmark Hill campus, part of a large mental health and neuroscience community with close links to NHS partners including South London and Maudsley. The programme develops strong research and practical skills applicable across humanitarian operations, UN agencies, health ministries, NGOs and academic institutions. The joint nature of the programme means students benefit from the combined expertise and networks of two world-leading institutions in public health and clinical psychiatry.
