The MSc in Humanitarian Policy and Practice at University College London is a one-year, full-time interdisciplinary programme based in UCL’s world-leading Faculty of Population Health Sciences. Designed for specialists and critical thinkers, the degree examines the root causes and drivers of humanitarian crises and equips students to shape effective, ethically justifiable and politically grounded humanitarian policies and programmes. Students work alongside academic experts from anthropology, public health, development studies, humanitarian affairs and medicine, drawing on real-world case studies to develop the knowledge and skills needed for careers in the humanitarian sector.

UCL is ranked 9th in the world (QS World Rankings 2026) and 3rd in the world for public health (ShanghaiRankings 2024). Applicants require a 2:1 undergraduate degree in a social science or health/medical science subject, or five or more years of relevant professional experience. The programme is also available part-time over two years and on a modular basis. UK tuition fees for 2026/27 are £14,200 full-time; international fees are £39,200. The programme is especially open to those who have lived and worked in places affected by humanitarian crises. UCL Humanitarian Scholarships are available to students at serious risk and/or displaced due to armed conflict.
